Becoming Quick to Hear and Respond

Do you ever have a scripture that keeps coming up in your life?

You hear it preached on, then someone tells you something they learned about it, then you stumble on it in the word yourself. If that happens, you know it’s God trying to tell you something. That has happened to me recently. The verse that has constantly appeared in my life is Matthew 11:28-30: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

For some reason I keep thinking I understand what the Lord was trying to say to me with this verse, but in reality I had no idea. It took me a while to sit down and read the verse and meditate on it before I really grasped what God was teaching me through it. The Lord shared some wonderful things with me that he wanted me to do, that would make my yoke easy and my burden light.

I am so glad that God is patient with us. I don’t know why I just kept brushing this verse off, but I’m glad God stayed with me until I got it. He just kept bringing it up over and over. What a gracious and wonderful God we have! He makes me want to be more gracious and patient with others, and be quicker to hear and respond to any verse that comes up in my life more than once.
